PGA Travelers Championship 2026 — Golf Picks, Tips & Analysis

Course

TPC River Highlands

Location

Hartford, CT

Date

25 June 2026

America/New_York

Course Overview

Firstly, let’s say we got the job done with only 8.3% of the field last week @ the 3rd Major of 2026.

What we have learnt along the way & especially so in the past 6 events is some course form can be discounted going from week to week, in other words form is skewed as some players just play certain courses better than others, this week @ TPC River Highlands players who tend to play well here year after year are franked, some players just do not handle this course well & we have steered well clear of a few players that are in the first 10 favourites in the line-up.

The Travelers Championship returns to TPC River Highlights in Cromwell, Connecticut — the Pete Dye-designed course playing to approximately 6,841 yards at par 70 alongside the Connecticut River. One of the PGA Tour’s most consistently entertaining events, TPC River Highlights produces low scoring and exciting Sunday finishes. The Bentgrass fairways and greens play firm and fast in the New England summer conditions of late June.

What to Look For

This is a birdie-fest, with winning scores regularly reaching 25 under par or lower. Elite wedge play, proximity to the hole, and Bentgrass putting performance are the most important factors. Past champions include Xander Schauffele, Harris English, and Chez Reavie.

Tips Coming: Full selections and analysis, from our chief analyst MJ, will be published Wednesday 24 June 2026 approx 3pm AEST ahead of the event tee-off.

STAKING: At PGT, we apply a strict and consistent staking strategy to every tip we publish. All published results on our site are calculated on the basis of one (1) unit per tip, unless otherwise stated. The actual dollar value of a unit (if any) is determined by each individual — it may be for a no-value bet with a friend, or $5 or $50. This methodology is for record-keeping and educational purposes only and is not a recommendation to bet or to bet in any particular way.

Justin Thomas Win 30/1(+3000) 1.00 LOSS

JT since his surgery has been playing well & we are happy to draw the line through last weeks US Open as this course means unlike his sometime errant drives off the tee box he can revert back to his strong iron play versus his wood-driver.

We have left JT alone since including him as the Late Mail @ PGA Championships when sent out at odds of $27.

JT was our late mail last week & we sent out a length Analysis why-

  • 30th x SG: Off the Tee @ +0.552
  • 25th x SG: Approach to Green @ +1.339
  • 11th x SG: Around the Green @ +2.223
  • 18th x SG: Putting @ +2.872
  • T6 x SG: Total @ +6.986
  • T46 x Driving Accuracy @ 59.52% (25/42)
  • T11 x Driving Distance @ 318.00 yds
  • T11 x Greens in Regulation @ 70.37% (38/54)
  • T1 x Sand Saves @ 100.00% (5/5)
  • T6 x Scrambling @ 75.00% (12/16)
  • T3 x Birdies @ 16
  • T56 x Pars @ 31
  • T21 x Bogeys @ 7

After a considerably safe day 1 JT had +3.53 strokes gained total & his best strokes gained metric was +1.20 strokes gained Off the Tee along with +1.11 SG on Approach, across all metrics he was in positive territory.

Day 2 he had his first metric in negative numbers when losing -0.68 strokes on approach he did however prove slick with the long stick picking up +1.84 strokes gained with the putter; he has been safe in tee to green over the combined 36 holes until day 3.

Many players made moves & perhaps peaking too soon on day 3, I am always wary of a player carding a 63 (-8) or 64 (-7), we saw it with our own PGT pick in Rickie Fowler who on a slow day 2 for most carded a good 63.

After JT had a mixed day 3 with 6 birdies + 4 bogeys but he wrote his first mistake a bogey on the 3rd hole but then bounced back with 5 x birdies from holes 4 to 12 then the shot into the water on the 14th hole just derailed his good previous 5 x birdies, it rattled him that much he had bogeys on holes 16 & 18.

JT is not usual that bad off the tee and the shot into the water on 14 was very poor if comparing his own high standards, it was penalised & I have watched the shot 10 times now, I doubt it reoccurs & JT has yet to really shine over 54 holes & sits a creditable T6 @ -9 with rounds of 67, 68, 69 & he is very capable of a good push on day 4 & 3 of his last 4 events he did card 68 (Valspar), 66 (RBC heritage), 69 (Cadillac).

For this week @ PGA-

JT went out in the earlier wave on day 2 where it was very cold, much windier + greens had not quickened until 4 to 5 hours later.

Highlighted are his better stats that should see him surge on day 3-

Day 1-

  • T8 x Driving Accuracy @ 78.57% (11/14)
  • T19 x Greens in Regulation @ 72.22% (13/18)
  • 12th x SG: Putting @ +2.547 strokes gained

Day 2-

  • T64 x Driving Accuracy @ 57.14% (8/14)
  • T107 x Greens in Regulation @ 55.56% (10/18)
  • 14th x SG: Approach to Green @ +2.487 strokes gained

I made note of day 1 into day 2 because JT still shot 69, 69 (-1 both days) yet on the conclusion of day 2 after some up & down efforts JT has so much room to improve.

Most players had trouble finding fairways which when in the thick rough made any iron play more difficult.

Around $27 on betfair is a fair price considering he will start @ -2 on day 3.

For PGA Travelers-

JT was okay last week but we expect a big bounce back around a course he has been highly competitive at with 3 x T5 in his last 3 events here-

  • T9 x 2025
  • T5 x 2024
  • T9 x 2025

Players that generally play well here keep on playing well & those that struggle repeat bad results each year, proving “horses for courses” is real.

5 x T20 in his last 5 events with 2 x T5 in that nice run so accepting $30 to win this week is easy. After opening around $28 he has been very firm, players like Xander & Ludvig are similar odds but have 10 x money on them.

Aaron Rai Win 55/1(+5500) 1.00 LOSS

Yes, AR was on our radar before his incredible 1st Major win of his career @ PGA Championships.

What we always like about this Englishman is his accuracy finding fairways plus his accurate iron play on approach.

  • 29th x SG: Total
  • 20th x SG: T2G
  • 53rd x SG: OTT
  • 20th x SG: APG
  • 56th x SG: ARG
  • 81st x SG: PUT
  • 1st x Driving Accuracy @ 72.35%
  • 10th x Greens in Regulation @ 69.44%
  • 10/13 cuts made in 2026 for 76.9%

Unlike the roster this week concentrating on players that are good ball strikers and can be more consistent with putting we are relying on steady results at this course, AR has been good, but he also is playing his best career golf of late-

At TPC River Highlands-

  • T17 x 2025
  • T23 X 2023
  • T44 x 2022

AR did not play in 2024 & again his form is much better now than a few years ago.

Now as a Major winner & last week he was very good around a tough course-

  • T11 x PGA US Open with 74, 67, 72, 69

Both his strokes gained was in positive territory across all 4 metrics PGT measure but highlighting his around green & putting play was in positive strokes gained which is the weakest part of his game.

After opening around $45 on betfair on Monday night (AEST) he has been on a slight drift to now $55 on betfair, normally we are cautious on following up on players who have won recently but AR looked smart last week after being cut in Canada.

A very fair price.

Brian Harman Win 70/1(+7000) 1.00 LOSS

We were bold enough to stick with this lefty last week @ US Open and if we look closer into what happened to his effort on day 4.

**Witnessed with my own eyes BH was on hole 1 (par 4) & started with a triple bogey so before teeing off on the 2nd was already +3 for the day 4 effort.

On hole 1 it was horrific, after playing his approach shot with a chip it missed and rolled back to his feet, played it again & unbelievably did the same, after his 3rd attempt he finally got it on the green, he is not the only player that has managed to play such terrible chips over the past few years.

He corrected the play with 4 birdies (holes 2, 5, 8, 9) + another bogey on hole 4 before fading on the back 9.

Considering BH was playing well he ended up with-

  • T32 x PGA US Open with rounds of 69, 71, 73, 73

It was better than okay.

What PGT sent out for last week @ US Open-

The lefty has not only frustrated us but himself and has let it show at recent events as he has left so many birdies out there, yet he still has been in +SG in putting in 6 of his last 7 events.

We did send out BH for the PGA Truist at juicy odds of $330.

From PGA Truist

Last week though @ Cadillac he started with the group posting a 68 & 70 & he went bogey free on day 1 with 4 x bridies, day 2 just the solo bogey on 11 before his frustration showed carding 4 bogeys & 2 birdies on day 3 for a 74 (+2) his event was over though.

On day 4 as he obviously could not get out of his own head, other than his eagle on the 8th hole, a par 5 he did have some luck as he had 2 holes where the ball got caught in the rough, not so luck on the 18th when his luck was out and the same luck that had kept his ball just in the rough rolled down the bank into the water, it happens, even Adam Scott on the 18th hit a shot that was going way out of bounds, hit a tree and bounced back “like God had placed it carefully back on the fairway” to round out his stellar day.

I just had to include BH as he has been up and down in a fair few events of late, he just needs to convert more days than 2 into his weekend to be alive chance.

Day 1 & 2 from the Cadillac-

  • 40th x SG: OTT losing -0.033 strokes
  • 26th x SG: APG @ +0.651
  • 19th x SG: ARG @ +0.803
  • 9th x SG: PUT @ +2.219
  • T6 x SG: Total @ +3.639
  • T4 x Greens in Regulation @ 83.33% (15/18)
  • T1 x Sand Saves @ 100.00% (3/3)
  • T1x Scrambling @ 100.00% (3/3)

And

  • 34th x SG: OTT losing -0.033 strokes
  • 40th x SG: APG losing -0.143
  • 15th x SG: ARG @ +0.950
  • 34th x SG: PUT @ +0.254
  • T19 x SG: Total @ +1.028
  • T23 x Greens in Regulation @ 72.22% (13/18)
  • T27 x Sand Saves @ 50.00% (1/2)
  • T8 x Scrambling @ 80.00% (4/5)

As advised on days 3 & 4 it was like “Where did that Brian go” but to say it clearly, he was not terrible on day 3 or 4 he just did not keep on pace.

We feel as though there is a corner to turn very shortly, and he is playing solid golf, the 9 made cuts from 11 events proves this, there are many PGA players that have a poor 50% SR when it comes to making cuts, BH has been there when it matters like @ PGA AT & T Pebble Beach (T19) & PGA The Players (T11) & to be fair to him he has gone 8 straight events in the money, he is a proven money maker if backing him in T25 & T40 markets.

US Open

BH has won a major, the 2023 OPEN Championship (amen we were on) & it was @ Royal Liverpool a notorious links course where players had brave the elements in cold, windy & rain coming from all directions, BH won with -13 (by 6 shots) & I can still recall members asking should they cash out???

I was FIRM & said why? He was @ -10 after 2 days with 67 & 65, sometimes you must roll the dice, seriously we are very restrained but sometimes you get lucky with a leader & it is usually around about this time of the year that the lefty starts to figure in the results.

Maybe the cut @ Memorial is enough to shake him up as he has been cut previously & bounced back well in recent times with a T19 @ AT & T Pebble Beach after being cut @ WM Phoenix & also was cut @ RSM Classic then bounced back for a 16th @ HERO Challenge.

We have to have faith & we need to see BH start well, his approach game on point (10 of 12 events in +SG), once on greens his game is solid with 6 of his last 9 in +SG, 2 of which are borderline into +SG & putting, he has been in strokes gained in 5 of his last 6.

We hope the best version of BH arrives; he has had 10-11 days off to regather himself & currently on betfair he is around $280. Another player I would try for much more above +$300.

If he can sink more putts than leaving a few out there which has been the case lately, he could have his best result in 2026.

PGA Travelers

**A horse for course player with a terrific history @ TPC River Highlands-

  • 8th x 2025
  • T9 x 2024
  • T2 x 2023
  • T8 x 2022
  • T5 x 2021

His good history goes further back as well with 8 x T10s in his last 11.

We rated him around $100 on disclosed form for this week, after opening around $55 on betfair late Monday night he has been on a slight drift to now $70 & he keeps changing between $65 & $70 as we type up the summary.

Due to course history being so good it is a fair price.

Harris English Win 75/1(+7500) 1.00 LOSS

We liked HE last week @ the Major-

This is what we sent out for Harris @ PGA Memorial, his stats really are trending so well-

HE is our gut feel player this week, his game has just been so strong of late.

2026 PGA stats-

  • 30th x SG: Total
  • 68th x SG: Tee to Green
  • 38th x SG: Off the Tee
  • 29th x Driving Accuracy @ 62.77%
  • 62nd x Greens in Regulation @ 66.56%
  • 115th x SG: Approach the Green
  • 80th x SG: Around the Green
  • 18th x SG: Putting
  • 12/13 Cuts made for 92.3% strike rate

**Some of what we sent out for the PGA Truist @ $65

He is making you money in T25 markets, but his overall game has seen improvements-

  • 32nd x SG: Total
  • 72nd x SG: T2G
  • 30th x SG: OTT
  • 34th x Driving accuracy @ 62.16%
  • 122nd x SG: APG
  • 59th x GIR @ 66.53%
  • 81st x SG: ARG
  • 16th x SG: PUT

Talking about HE recent results you only have to look up all his results in 2026 and they have been the most consistent of any year and “I watched a recent interview with Dan Rapaport in what was very relaxed interview as HE explains he is working on being consistent and he thinks he is doing a splendid job of that & he highlights low scores will come from that”.

The current 2025 team Won.

Highly entertaining but it shows the human element of golf.

Back to English his best result around Muirfield-

  • T12 x 2025

It is however his consistent efforts in all strokes gained metrics that really impresses-

  • 78 of his last 100 measured SG metric rounds in + SG

To sit anywhere near 80% is outstanding and if you look at Scheffler & Rory they are players who sit above 80%, that is a lot of golf & to be fair to HE, of the 22 rounds where he was in strokes lost they are between -0.50 to -0.75 with his worse being -3.72 strokes lost on approach @ PGA The Players, he was CUT.

HE was one of the better performances that went pretty much unnoticed @ PGA Championship, but he went about his business for T18 he also gave us a peek into how close he went for his T4 @ RBC Heritage.

US Open

As advised his stats are off the chart in putting of late so if he can get his wedges & irons to fire he can lean on the flat stick for picking up opportunities more so than others who struggle once on the greens (except the odd player running hot-the anomaly player).

Although he is yet to taste success in a Major, he has gone close with a few 2nds in the recent 2025 OPEN championships & T2 2025 PGA Championships.

He tends to thrive more on the tougher courses like Quail Hollow, Royal Portrush, Harbor Town links & Aronimink etc & his form in 2026 & confirming what I listened to in the interview with Dan Rapaport that English wanted to be more consistent in 2026, his results are confirmation of this and he has had +SG Total in 22 of his last 25 events, that is 14 of 15 just in 2026.

  • 10th x Birdie or better percentage @ 24.79%

After winning 5 x PGA events & gone close in Majors it would be of no surprise if he grits this out for his 1st Win, well deserved if he can & after opening around $100 in early pre markets we can now get around $130 on betfair & as much as $160 was available this week.

We think $130 to $150 is fair.

PGA Travelers

  • T4 x 2025
  • T63 x 2024
  • T60 x 2023
  • T19 x 2022
  • 1st x 2021

We selected Harris last year and he finished day 4 with a 65 (-5) after 3 solid days with rounds of 67, 68, 67 (-13) he is still playing well and sometimes you must go back to the well & even more so around a course he loves.

It will be a birdie fest this week & HE has been very firm after opening around $65 on betfair there is plenty of +$75 on offer, His game is trending well & we consider him value this weekend & he has been excellent with his putter with 1 of his last 12 events all in +SG.

Maverick McNealy Win 75/1(+7500) 1.00 LOSS

We have to go back to Texas @ PGA Valero Open in early April, which was when we last picked Mav to figure, sent out @ $34 he finished T21.

Since Valero Mav has made 7 straight cuts with his best finish a T10 @ PGA Memorial but also in that 7 straight cuts he did finish T20 in both Majors-

  • T18 x PGA Championships with rounds of 69, 67, 71, 72 for -1
  • T18 x PGA Masters with 77, 70, 70, 67 for -4

What obviously stands out @ PGA Masters is his 77 (+5) on day 1 after bogeying holes (1, 4, 5, 9 & 15) what we like is his rebound on day 2 with 4 birdies on the last 10 holes to complete a better day 2 @ 70.

  • 18th x SG: Total
  • 41st x SG: T2G
  • 55th x SG: OTT
  • 103rd x SG: APG
  • 14th x SG: ARG
  • 14th x SG: PUT
  • 93rd x GIR @ 65.13%
  • 14/15 cuts made for 93.3%

This week with 72 players there is NO CUT but why we include cuts made even for events that have zero cut is the consistency it shows across the first 36 holes in general. Mav is a player who still only has 1 x PGA win but considering his approach game is now 3 from 3 (100%) in positive strokes gained, we are happy to ignore his overall 2026 ranking in SG: APG.

There is a strong positive shift up in his last 3 events with his iron/wedge play & and last year around TPC River Highlands he was good-

  • T17 x 2025

We just think MAV is trending well with his game, he can make birdies with his putter but an interesting stat with his approach game is Mav ranks 11th from under 275 yards, that suits here & reiterating why putting will be a deciding factor here this week Mav franks-

  • 1st x going for green/birdie or better (95 birdies from 127 attempts)

The above stat elevates Mav this week & we much prefer here on USA soil before most of the better players head over the pond for the Open & Scottish Open & after opening around $60 on betfair there is plenty of $75 to be matched on betfair, with more attention on players at lower odds you could try & get matched for $85-$90.

If he starts hot he could easily be $20 heading into day 2.

The last 2 players that make up our 7 player roster with room for the just in case we see a player trending well or playing out of their skin (late mail) are what we consider over the odds this week.

Hideki Matsuyama Win 120/1(+12000) 1.00 LOSS

PGT sent out Hideki @ $20 as a Late Mail for the 2nd Major at the PGA Championship-

Some of what we sent in Analysis-

Day 2 results-

  • 52nd SG: Off the Tee @ +0.505
  • T26 x Greens in Regulation @ 72.22% (13/18)- similar on day 1
  • 22nd x SG: Approach to Green @ +1.739
  • 13th x SG: Around the Green @ +1.427
  • 19th x SG: Putting @ +1.938
  • T3 x SG: Total @ +5.609
  • T64 x Driving Accuracy @ 57.14% (8/14) + 60% day 1

It was a matter of Hideki v Gotterup, we know how good CG can be but perhaps the -5 may have been his peak on day 2 and although his driving will take him along way, HM showed some very nice touches with wedges and even his putter.

At the WM Phoenix where we picked Gotterup it was Hideki who was so errant off the tee which cost him when placing his 2nd shot under pressure. I tracked all HM shots over 36 holes around Aronimink, if he sticks to 60% of fairways, he will feature over the final 36 holes.

  • Hideki scrambled very well on day 1 @ 60% (3/5) & better on day 2 @ 80% (4/5).

He will start @ -3 on day 3 so handicapped better than most as that start could prove invaluable as the goal on day 3 will simply be BOGEY free rounds & currently $20 on betfair is acceptable, we do like others at better prices, more value!

Including all 5 players for Late mail our total outlay will be 15 units.

For PGA Travelers-

Unlike Aronimink driving accuracy is not as imperative, of course you still do not want to find thick rough but Hideki is another player on our roster that when he can concentrate on his iron/wedge play he is a far better chance,

At TPC River Highlands-

Hideki has been close in 2026, like most of the PGA tour he can play well for 3 days but I think around courses that are long he struggles with his driver off the tee, around shorter courses his iron & wedge play can take him much further.

We watched Hideki very closely last week @ US Open as he is a  player who is normally under $60 for most events so to be offered double this week on a course we know his iron/wedge play will come to the fore more so than recent weeks-

His last 3 results around here-

  • T30 x 2025
  • T23 x 2024
  • T13 x 2023

We did not commit his other results because they were poor but he DNP (did not play) in 2022 & 2021 & we just think Hideki is knocking on the door again.

After opening around $90 on betfair on Monday nigh (AEST) I write this as we have members from the USA & their markets are usually available to them days before the market open in Australia, there has been no support for Hideki & he is around $120 now on betfair with plenty available on offer to match.

With no support I suggest trying to get matched +$150, His game is better than his last 6, in saying that he still has a T13 & T12 in those 6 events.

We are relying on his ball striking! we want to see that yellow shirt on day 4 in the final pairing.

Nicolai Hojgaard Win 220/1(+22000) 1.00 LOSS

The best value of the event.

PGT has a long history watching both the Hojgaard twins mainly over on the DP World tour, In Europe Rasmus has the better record with 5 x DP wins versus 3 x DP wins for Nicolai but it is around this time of the year and well demonstrated at the Genesis Scottish Open with his T4.

In 2026 NH has also proven his mettle with-

  • T2 x PGA Truist Championships
  • 2nd x PGA Texas Children’s Open
  • T6 x PGA Cognizant Classic
  • T3 x PGA WM Phoenix Open

Thosee great results have been to some very inform players, the elephant in the room of late is NH & his 3 straight cuts, this does not bother either the Stig or MJ as we know him that well & we saw with a similar profile he finished 2nd @ PGA Zurich in 2025 & also bounce off 3 cuts with a T14 @ PGA Baycurrent in Japan.

Of note he was in positive strokes gained (+1.22) in putting last week at the US Open before getting his early mark for the weekend.

  • 19th x SG: Total
  • 22nd x SG: T2G
  • 40th x SG: OTT
  • 36th x SG: APG
  • 61st x SG: ARG
  • 52nd x SG: PUT
  • 76th x GIR @ 65.81%
  • 11/15 cuts made in 2026 for 73.3%

A know long hitter off the tee (7th overall) he is another player that I much prefer on shorter courses like this weekend, as previous years have been primarily on DPWT he does not have a profile around here, his accuracy off the tee is below the PGA tour average but we saw when 2nd to Gary Woodland he was-

  • 1st x SG: APG @ +6.687

That is normally his strength his approach game which was a little off in only 2 of his last 3 cuts, his normal figures are incredible so asl long as Nicolai can put away his driver/wood and get back to hitting irons long he can compete this week.

  • 4th x SG: APG between 50 to 125 yards.

Also, a stat really to consider how good he is putting under 10 feet, the course history around TPC River Highlands tells us how well rewarded players are under 5 feet. Happy to stick with Nicolai under 10 feet range.

  • 3 x Putting Inside 10 feet @ 90.77% (806 putts made from 888 attempts)

That is approx 200 more putts than the players ranked in 1st & 2nd above him.

Nicolai is desperate to get that 1st win on PGA tour after 7 x T25s in 2026 from 15 events overall that of course improves to 7 from 11 cuts made.

Another player that can normally be around $60 to $80 for most events, he is currently @ $220 on betfair, there was a high of $230 & with no love this week for Nicolai try for +$250, we could even get $300 on betfair or you can at least try, as long as other analysts leave him out of contention.

He is the PGT Value play this week.

What we prefer to see is Nicolai from the tee box with an Iron in his hands & not his driver/wood!
