Course Overview

The American Express is unique on the PGA Tour calendar as a pro-am event played across three courses in the California desert — the Pete Dye Stadium Course at PGA West (par 72, approximately 7,210 yards), La Quinta Country Club, and the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West. Professionals play all three layouts across the first three rounds before the field is cut and the final round is contested exclusively on the Pete Dye Stadium Course.

The Pete Dye Stadium Course is the marquee venue, featuring dramatic bunkering, water hazards, elevated tee boxes, and spectator mounding incorporated specifically for gallery viewing. All three courses are set against the Santa Rosa Mountains in the Coachella Valley and feature firm, fast conditions typical of January desert golf.

What to Look For

The Pete Dye Stadium Course ultimately determines the winner and demands strong iron play and putting on Bermuda greens. Look for players with low bogey rates and the ability to take advantage of the par 5s. Past winners include Hudson Swafford, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, and Si Woo Kim.

I missed MATTEO but this Italian like his team mate GUIDO are fine ball strikers and good around the greens, HE WILL WIN a PGA soon. 70% of the field are good enough, they just have to put 4 days together.

Very unusual for him as he can often sit in most events between -15 to -20, it is expected really but last week in The SONY OPEN he looked soooooooooooo much better & comfortable carding a 66, 67, 66 & 71 for a -10. Day 4 was where he faulted as the 1st x 3 days were sublime and he looked good, if he had kept his average over the 1st x 3 days he most likely Wins. Here on this course he has featured many times in the Top 10. Odds via Betfair and I have had $100 WIN. Only the 4 x Players OFFICIALLY will be rsulted, the very last player I will share my speculators, I am not expecting everyone to back those as some are wild.

I have watched him over the last 3 years and he is often forgotten about but this 3o yr old from the highly talented pool of South Africa is another yet to win on the PGA Tour, HOWEVER he does have 5 x 1sts Internationally and sits currently in 57th OWGR (world rankings). In 2024 here he finished 2nd with a brilliant -28, any other year he wins by a few strokes and in 2023 a T11 with a -23, His last 2 visits top notch and remember these courses there are low 60s so you gotta be low 60s every day. Players with better Putters come to the fore here. In 2024 on the PGA Tour he finished better than 50% in the Top 25, thats crazy good. Like most we need a quick start here but he did finish T40 at the SENTRY with a decent -14 the highlight being an incredibly LOW 63 on Day 3. I feel he is perculating well for this. My Biggest single play of $219 on @ $100. Why, It is because I had my initial $100 on and I was unmatched with some of the roughies so I had $119 to round it off so I like him here. He is like Taylor was last week THE HORSES FOR COURSES play.

Hossler is a very hard man to catch but often when I do not pick him he appears in the Top 5 or Top 10 so it is never a surprise.

He was elevated to the USA Presidents Team and he seems to be thriving but he is still yet to win on the PGA tour despite being beaten in 3 playoffs, so he could have finished with 3 x PGA wins.

His Best is good enough and in 2024 after 28 events he had 1 x 2nd, 3 x Top 10s & 10 x Top 25s that is highly consistent so a smarter man would back him in the same markets here TOP 25.
