Course Overview
The FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee is the opening event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs whilst determining which players progress to the BMW Championship.
TPC Southwind plays to approximately 7,244 yards at par 70, featuring Zoysia grass fairways and Champion Bermuda grass greens in a parkland setting with a strategic lake coming into play on the closing holes. The August Memphis heat and humidity are among the most physically demanding conditions on the Tour calendar.

Hole 9 Par 4, 457 YARDS
A long dogleg to the right, slightly downhill with the 2nd shot over a lake that is front of the green. The player needs a lot of length to get in position for the approach to the green. Ideal drive is past the large tree on the right of the fairway to ensure an open shot to the green.
Hole 11 Par 3, 157 YARDS
A smaller version of the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass, but with its own uniqueness. This hole requires a short iron over water to an island green with a small pot bunker that guards the front edge of the green.
Hole 14 Par 3, 215 YARDS
Elevated tee and a full carry over water to a severely undulated green. A very difficult par 3, set among a natural amphitheatre.
Hole 18 Par 4, 453 YARDS
An excellent finishing hole that places a great demand off the tee. This dogleg left has water that comes into play on the first two shots, as well as fairway bunkers on the right. Spectator mounds surround the medium-sized green.

Hole 1 – Par 4 · Yards 434
A slight uphill dogleg to the left. Fairway bunkers on the right off the tee come into play with accuracy imperative for finding the small, well-bunkered green with shot average @ 3.97.
Hole 2 – Par 4 · Yards 401
Off the tee into a dogleg right with fairway bunkers on the left off the tee. Small green with 2 bunkers requires a short-iron approach. Shot average @ 3.87.
Hole 3 – Par 5 · Yards 554
The first par 5-hole plays downhill with a lake along the right side of the fairway and green. The green is deep and narrow & guarded with water on the right and bunkers on the left. Shot average @ 4.57.
Hole 4 – Par 3 · Yards 196
With water short left of the green, this hole is considered one of the most picturesque on the course. Players will hit a 5- or 6-iron depending on the wind. Good opportunity for par with only 13.9% of players making birdie versus 72.2% making par.
Shot average @ 3.01.
Hole 5 – Par 4 · Yards 485
A slight dogleg to the right off the tee with a large tree on the right side of the fairway that comes into play. The left side of the fairway is lined by spectator viewing mounds. shot average @ 4.15 with only 9.5% of players going under par.
Hole 6 – Par 4 · Yards 445
A dogleg to the left with this narrowing fairway with large spectator hills on the left side of the fairway and fairway bunkers to the right. A long drive will require a middle-iron approach shot to a well- bunkered green. Shot average @ 3.90.
Hole 7 – Par 4 · Yards 482
Straight from the tee players will need to avoid a large fairway bunker on the left @ approx. 290 yards. The 2nd wedge-iron shot to a very large green that is heavily bunkered on both sides. Shot average @ 4.16 with only 8.2% of players finding birdies with the majority @ +68% finding par.
Hole 8 – Par 3 · Yards 178
A short iron off the tee to a wide fairway but narrowing green with two large bunkers guarding the left side. To the right of the green is slope that slants sharply onto the green. Shot average @ 2.99 with 17.5% of players making a birdie.
Hole 9 – Par 4 · Yards 457
A long fairway dogleg to the right, slightly downhill with the 2nd shot over a lake that is in front of the green. The player needs a lot of length to get in position for the approach to the green. Ideal drive is past the large tree on the right of the fairway to ensure an open shot to the green. Shot average @ 4.03 with 19.4% of players finding a birdie but 60.7% walking away with par, the higher than 70% greens in regulation players can birdie here.
Hole 10 – Par 4 · Yards 465
A slight dogleg to the left with water possibly coming into play off the tee for a long hitter. Some players may opt to go with a 3-wood off the tee instead of a driver. The 2nd shot is over water to a well-bunkered green accented by trees short of the green. Shot average @ 3.94 with 21% of players able to walk away with a birdie.

Hole 12 – Par 4 · Yards 406
271 yards to the right dogleg then 134 yards down the right with water that extends down the entire right side. Fairway bunkers on the left side of the hole come into play. Shot average @ 4.17 with this hole troubling players with over 27% finding bogeys.
Hole 13 – Par 4 · Yards 472
From the tee box the best strategy is down the left fairway which is 331 yards before it kicks to the right sharply. the left side is the best approach 147 yards to the green, which is well-guarded by 4 bunkers. The 13th has 70% of players finding par with a shot average @ 4.02.

Hole 15 – Par 4· Yards 395
With a heavily tree-lined fairway, players will attempt to shortcut the corner as it is 251 yards this is a short par 4 with a slight dogleg to the left. The 2nd shot of less than 146 yards is over a creek to a well-bunkered green. The tee shot is key here. shot average @ 3.97 with over 177 pars (69.4%) versus 43 birdies (16.9%).
Hole 16 – Par 5 · Yards 530
With 142 birdies on this hole, it is one-hole players must walk away with at least 4. An uphill par 5 that is reachable in 2 (351 + 183 yards). The green is small and well-guarded with bunkers. Often known as the hole that can determine the winner as par is just not good enough. Shot average @ 4.39 with 60.3% of players finding that birdie & only 4% with bogeys.
Hole 17 – Par 4 · Yards 490
A long downhill hole that requires a lot of length off the tee to set up the second shot over a creek. The long and narrow green is protected by 6 bunkers. The bombers though can take advantage as it is a 300-yard straight fairway into 194 yards. Shot average @ 4.16 yards and only 23 birdies (9.1%) only but bombers-putters could walk away in 3.

What to Look For
The playoff contest creates a high-stakes performance environment. TPC Southwind rewards driving accuracy and iron precision into the Bermuda greens. Players arriving in top physical condition and strong recent form are the ones to prioritise. Past champions include 2025 winner Justin Rose, Lucas Glover, J.J. Spaun, and Tony Finau.
