Pro Golf Tipping is built around one idea: the most popular player in the field is rarely the best bet.

We look for value — prices that appear bigger than a player's realistic chance of winning or contending. In the betting game it's called often "overs". Sometimes we like a player, but they are "unders", and we will never back a player who is shorter odds than what our systems says they should be. Remove the emotion; trust the stats; trust the intuition; back the value.

Chief analyst MJ

MJ brings more than 30 years of betting-market experience to PGT. His background began in horse racing, where he has owned more than 100 horses and worked as a harness driver, trainer and hands-on industry participant.

For more than a decade he has also operated tipping services across different sports and markets. Golf became a major focus because of the size of the fields, the depth of information available and the opportunity to combine statistical work with course and player context.

The Stig — data and modelling

Behind the scenes, MJ works with a data specialist known as “The Stig”.

Together they assess player form, course suitability, field strength, market prices and the statistical indicators relevant to each Event.

That quantitative work is combined with the less tidy - and labour intensive - information that matters in golf: interviews, travel, injuries, confidence, weather and how a player's game fits the week in front of them.

For MJ, it's a labour of love. The guy is a golf nut. He studies every blade of grass on every course. He knows what colour pants Bryson wore at St Andrews three years ago.

The Stig is a mind-bending combination of algorithmic code, in-depth stats modelling and then layering it with player psychology based on their previous performances.

How PGT measures itself

The aim is not to look clever after a winner.

Every published pick stays in the results record, including the losing ones. Results are calculated using the stated unit stakes and recorded odds so the service can be judged over a meaningful sample rather than a few screenshots.
